Wildflower Day - June 6, 2026
Celebrating Waterton’s world-renowned botanical diversity. Features guided walks, wildflower trail ride on horseback, child focus activities and wildflower themed yoga sessions.
This is a small beginning step to bring back the Wildflower Festival.
Canada Day - July 1, 2026
Our flagship summer celebration! Join us this year to host a special FIFA World Cup 2026 themed Canada Day celebration. Activities planned will focus on a friendly community soccer round robin tournament. Teams can register (family, coworkers) or individuals can join the day of and will be put on a team. In between matches, a skills competition will be arranged to see who has the fastest kick.
(RCMP to use radar gun), and a range of other challenges, obstacle course, target shooting…
To kick off the activities a “Red & White” fan gathering will take place on the community center lawn. Prizes will be given out for best dressed and winning teams.
Niitsitapi Arts & Heritage Festival
August 11–12, 2026
Experience the rich traditions, artistry, and living culture of the Niitsitapi (Blackfoot) people during this two-day celebration in Waterton Lakes National Park. Presented in collaboration with Parks Canada, the Niitsitapi Arts & Heritage Festival offers visitors the opportunity to connect with Indigenous artists, knowledge keepers, performers, and community members through art, culture, and storytelling.
Day One – Tuesday, August 11
The festival begins with a full day of interactive cultural experiences at the Waterton Park Community Centre.
Visitors can:

Explore an interactive Indigenous art exhibit in the gymnasium.

Shop for authentic handmade items at the Indigenous marketplace located in the north classroom.

Participate in a hands-on cultural workshop in the south classroom.

Enjoy delicious Indian Tacos, available for purchase throughout the day.
Whether you're discovering Indigenous art for the first time or deepening your appreciation of Blackfoot culture, Day One offers meaningful opportunities to learn, create, and connect.
Day Two – Wednesday, August 12
Join us outdoors for the festival's signature event—an unforgettable Powwow celebration.
Experience the vibrant sights and sounds of traditional dancing, drumming, regalia, and cultural celebration as dancers and singers gather to honour the traditions of the Niitsitapi people. Everyone is welcome to attend, learn, and celebrate in a respectful and welcoming environment.

The Niitsitapi Arts & Heritage Festival is a family-friendly event that celebrates culture, community, and connection. We invite visitors and residents of all ages to join us for two inspiring days of art, learning, and celebration.

Beargrass Day Aug. 29
Join us for Beargrass Day, a revitalized community celebration dedicated to Waterton's unique character and welcoming charm.
Originally created more than 40 years ago to encourage August tourism, Beargrass Day is making its
return as a celebration of Waterton's natural beauty, First Nations cultures and connection to place,
community spirit, and unique built heritage. Whether you're a local resident or visiting the park,
this special event offers a fun-filled day of activities that bring people together while showcasing the
character and charm of Waterton.

10:30 — Beargrass Day Revival & Founders’ Celebration
Celebrating the return of Beargrass Day and honouring the women who started it all.
12 pm — Lions Hall Open House
12:30 — Lemonade Stands
1:00 — Retro Bingo, we found the original set in the basement of the Lions Hall!
2:00 — Blackfoot Games on the field of the Waterton Park Community Centre green space
3 pm — Chili Cook-Off Tasting Opens
5 pm — Chili Cook-Off Judging & Award
6 p.m. — Live Music & Community Social

Please bring 5 L or about 20 cups of chili to the Lions Hall by 2:30pm

Lemonade Stands
We'll need refreshments! Please bring your lemonade stand to the community center
or we can supply you with a table. The Waterton Park Community Association
will supply you with your lemonade base but then it's your turn! Find a secret
ingredient and create your very own signature lemonade!
